Yes, I know it's been weeks since the last time I wrote anything here. Know why it's been so long? Because I realized that every time I sat down to write something I had to really stretch to find a topic. Okay, sure, everybody, sooner or later, catches a case of writers block. I know that. But for me I think it's been made worse because I've been house bound for so darn long. I mean, geez, if you never leave the house, if you're alwys gimping around and in pain, what is there pleasant or delightful to talk about? And who wants to listen to me whine? Hell, I'm tired of hearing myself!

But today, oh today, glorious today, I drove for the first time in weeks! I didn't go far, but I went. And I got back safely. I am no longer house bound, nor at the mercy of others to take me places. I am an independent woman!!!

Sure, all that sounds silly as can be, I know that. But it's a major improvement to my life.

Yes, I'm still limping. Yes, I still regard my cane as a fashion accessory. But I can drive!!!!

Be good, be careful, take care, stay strong.

I was telling you about Tallulah and her snow the other day. Okay, instead of a foot of snow they 'only' got about 5 inches, that was agood thing. Not that she was thrilled with 5 more inches, because she wasn't, but at least it wasn't a foot. They're supposed to get another big snow storm tonight and in to tomorrow. Hopefully it won't be too bad either.

Around here they're calling for rain. Maybe even thunderstorms. Poor Kathleen, my cat, is afraid of thunder and lightning. She always runs to the basement when it storms. Used to be she'd hide behind the furnace, but then I got a new one that's much smaller. Now she hides in the chocolate brown room where my sewing machine is.

I'm always looking for a remedy for dry skin and I've found a new one. Cetaphil. It's a little pricey, but it works. No added fragrances or alcohol so it's good for even the most sensitive of skin types.

I've seen a few really funny and cute movies lately. Enchanted, the new one from Disney. Alvin + The Chipmunks. And I can't remember the exact title of this one but it's something Dewey Cox. It was stupid, silly and I laughed and laughed!

Be good and be careful, take care, stay strong.

What's your weather been like? Here it was 73 degrees yesterday (Monday) and almost as warm again today.

Around here (metro Detroit area), ask anyone what they've thought about this winter and you'll hear how it was too darn long. This winter brought us more snow than we've had in a number of years. Fortunatey, we got snow, it melted, we got snow, it melted, etc. so it's not like we had 6 foot piles of the cold, white stuff laying around all season.

Now my friend Tallulah, who lives in Marquette, MI, she's had a very long winter too. This was, I should say this is because winter is still raging up there and probably will be for a few more weeks.

Her uncle, who has lived in Marquette his whole entire 80-year life, says this was the longest winter they've ever had up there. And it got longer today because the weather people are calling for 10 to 14 inches of heavy, wet snow for them.

This is Tallulah's first winter in the UP. She had it all planned out, it was going to be an adventure. She had stacks of dvds, miles of yarn to knit with, cable tv, she was good to go.

Today when she called me she said she was at her breaking point. Apparently yesterday it was in the 40's and sunny and she was outside in her shirt sleeves. Spring was in the air and she was geeked at the thought of being able to plant flowers and drag out her lawn furniture. Today it was windy and brrrrr! cold and the weather folks were screaming a foot of snow, she was getting more gas for the snow blower and dragging out her snowsuit and boots.

I tried not to laugh but sometimes when things seem to be at their worst it's all I can do. I told her to hang in there. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

That's something we all have to remember. Adversity builds character.

Be good, be careful, take care, stay strong.

I'll tell you what, sometimes it feels like no matter what you do you just can't win, you know what I mean?

Like I said the last time I posted here, things were looking good. That darn old sciatica was just about gone. I was back to getting out and getting around and life was looking up.

So today, almost faster than you could snap your fingers, I went from 99.9% all better to back to my recliner with an ice pack. What happened? Well, I tripped and fell. The street out in front of my house is cement, jagged and uneven, and as I went to grab my garbage cans after the truck went by, well, kaboom, down I went.

My elbow bled, my knee bled and swelled up, and I wrenched my arm and shoulder. Nothing broke and I didn't get run over when I was sprawled face down in the street so I was, despite it all, truly blessed.

For the next couple weeks when you call, remember--I'm back to moving slow again, so be patient, please.

Be good, be careful, take care, stay strong.hugs,
